M-AR delivers new affordable housing for the London Borough of Bromley

Specialist offsite contractor M-AR has completed the first of three new housing schemes in partnership with Bromley Council, all designed to provide ‘Bromley Homes for Bromley People’. The new affordable housing development off Bushell Way in Chislehurst, which has been named Chris Whitty Place, was officially opened by Deputy Mayor of Bromley Councillor Christine Harris at a recent launch event hosted by Bromley Council.

The housing development contains 25 modern one- and two-bedroom apartments and is amongst the first housing schemes developed on council land to create more affordable housing in the borough as part of the ‘Bromley Homes for Bromley People’ programme. The development also contains a number of environmental features in its design, including photovoltaic panels and herb gardens. Digitalization’s Effect on Housing Design and Construction

At the March 2022 symposium held by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University two new working papers and one new commentary were presented on how digitalization, artificial intelligence, and machine learning are affecting housing. The “digital transformation in housing design and construction is a complex, but not insurmountable, socio-technical challenge,” Elizabeth Bowie Christoforetti (Harvard Graduate School of Design; Supernormal) observed in her commentary for the symposium, pointing out that digitalization has the potential to “deliver more and better living accommodations.” According to one of the papers, titled “Modularization Precedes Digitalization in Offsite Housing Delivery”:
